- [S84] M Quast Wathen, Interview, Quast M Wathen 2004, (26 march 2004), Marian recounted her mother's story that they were originally planned tocome to USA with her family (Wonnenbergs) in 1899, but stayed behind totravel with her husband's family. Her mother said that this almost endedin tragedy as the Russian army was recruiting all the men in theCaucasus area for the army and the Quast family had to run out duringthe night and take a very old rusty boat to America where they landed inGalveston Tx in 1905. They then went to Oklahoma to meet the Wonnenbergfamily and found out that Dorothea's father had passed away.
